#BrandSwansea is an independent think tank and re-brand initiative for the City and County of Swansea that starts with the thing that matters the most! The people who live here.

We want to hear about your stories from the ordinary to the downright wacky and everything in between.

From Blaen-Y-Maes to Derwen Fawr, from Clydach to Langland Bay.
We want to dig deep and unearth those stories that everyone should hear. It’s all about our past, present and most importantly our future.

Our Story

Inspired by People, Places and a Passion for Positive Change

Our long term aim is to develop a cohesive, cross partnership brand strategy for the City and County of Swansea that encourages an impassioned view of our City’s heritage while embracing new ideas, and a long term vision for the City Centre and the surrounding region.  

Initially, #BrandSwansea will run a pilot scheme at grass-roots level, aimed at “turning around”  perceptions of the city brand, both internally and externally.  

Harnessing social media and online content, we will capture a sense of #WhoAreWe? & #WhereAreWe? while helping to foster a new feeling of optimism and positivity amongst the peoples of Swansea. Our main activities will focus on a “clicks and bricks” approach to storytelling and data capture.

A New City in the Making

We want to Develop an honest appraisal of where we are as a City and how we are seen by others, by developing a curated online platform-website/forum that allows for questions to be asked about the future of the City, including posts & comments relating to how we can improve, change and develop our overall approach to regeneration and future development.  

We will also work with universities, and colleges, offering student placements, voluntary, and work experience opportunities for market research and the exploration of brand ideas.

The Heart of our City is its people

We will develop a number of grass-roots campaigns encouraging localised buy-in, ownership and renewed amplification of the “people's voice”, distributing stories and media via a strong, coherent, multi-platform network that will offer a fresh, progressive view of the city and its future.

#BrandSwansea is NOT about logo's and corporate ID, it's about people and places. Who Are We? What Are We? Where Are We?


Its time for a change; for some positive energy, let's get behind our City and unite in an effort to better our prospects for the future.
